Brent G. Cheney joined Parker Milliken as a shareholder in 2009. Mr. Cheney’s practice focuses on business litigation and environmental counseling. With the addition of Mr. Cheney, Parker Milliken has increased its depth and experience to its litigation and environmental practices.
Business Litigation Practice: Mr. Cheney has extensive trial and appellate experience, both in Federal and State courts, handling a wide variety of business and environmental matters. He has successfully handled jury trials, court trials, and arbitrations for his clients. He also has successfully handled multiple appeals. He is skilled in the resolution of intricate California real estate and finance disputes, and often litigates or negotiates workouts of failed transactions. Mr. Cheney’s business litigation expertise includes:
- Real estate related claims, including deed and easement disputes, eminent domain, and trespass
- Real and personal property secured transactions
- Contractual, tortious and commercial litigation
- Trust and probate litigation
- Bankruptcy proceedings

- Unfair competition
Environmental Practice: Mr. Cheney counsels clients on environmental matters pending before federal, state and local administrative agencies, and on environmental issues arising in real property and business transactions. He helps clients successfully resolve concerns of state and federal agencies, and assists clients in navigating the resolution of environmental liabilities. Mr. Cheney also has expertise handling a variety of environmental matters, including:
federal Superfund and state court cost recovery actions
- Toxic torts
- Proposition 65 and other civil penalty litigation
- Environmental insurance coverage disputes
- Environmental compliance, reporting and disclosure
- Environmental matters pending before federal, state and local administrative agencies
- Environmental issues arising in real property and business transactions

Education:
He received his B.S. in Business Administration with a finance emphasis in 1992 from the University of Southern California. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University School of Law in 1995.
Community Service:
Mr. Cheney is an active member of his community. He has been actively involved in several ministries with his church. He presently serves as a board member for Westlake National Junior Basketball, and continues to coach boys' and girls' youth soccer and basketball.
